Head Replacement Tips?
1st Post!
Hi All, first off, you folks have a great forum here! My buddy took his `95 Contour 2.0 DOHC four cylinder with 60K miles to the dealer for some routine maintenance. They told him they discovered a crack in the cylinder head (leaking coolant externally). The labor quote alone for head replacement was $800. We'd like to tackle this job ourselves, installing a used head. Do you have you any tips, tricks and/or suggestions for us? Thanks in advance, -Jimmy Last edited by SSunfire GT; 10-15-2004 at 04:37 PM. |

buy a service manual for about $100 and it will help greatly. Gives in depth instructions and pictures, torque specs, etc.

Edit: `95 Vin 3 Dohc
Thank you beyondloadedSE, we are definately going with a manual to complete this project. I checked the car today and found it has a build date of 3/95 and is definately a VIN 3 engine. Any DOHC-specific quirks we should be aware of that might not be noted in the factory procedure?
Beautiful SE btw! - Jimmy |
