Quick question. I have a 1994 4WD S10 Blazer. I bought it about 4 months ago and was wondering if there were any prior recalls on that year. Also, if there were, how could I find out if any fixes have been made? I have been wondering about this for awhile now....

Thanks,
Skeeter6755

Re: Recall

I realized the other day that partsamerica.com, the online store for "Advance Auto Parts," gives you free information about recall notices. All you have to do is fill in your vehicle information. I learned that our '97 Blazer had a seat belt recall, among other things.

Take care,

You can get recall info for free from the National Highway Transportation saftey administration web site ; www.nhtsa.gov

Scroll to the "recall" button, follow instructions to list all recalls in the US for your particular vehicle (year, model specific).
Select to list "ALL" recalls for your car/truck.

Recalls never expire, only "Special service Bulletins" expire, example; the wiper motor pulse board expired in March, 04.

Any Chevy or GM dealer can tell you if any of the listed recalls have been done on your truck by tracing the VIN number back to GM.

As for trailblazin96's wiper problem, it sounds like you need a new pulse board on the wiper motor box. If your wipers only work when they're not needed, but fail to work when it rains, your pulse board is toast. This is a well known GM problem, every parts store carries this board, cost ranges $25.00 to $40.00.

Re: Recall

It's a CPI engine... the "w".
I'll also check that website that was mentioned earlier. I totally agree with you...why fix something when you can get it fixed for free

Download what?
To clarify my earlier post...

The web site I gave is free, it's the U.S. Government site.
Alldata is a for profit concern, the NHTSA isn't.

Just go to http://www-odi.nhtsa.dot.gov/cars/pr...callsearch.cfm , select search by vehicle type, fill in the data, select the recalls you want to view, then select summary. The summary will list the recall notice, and in some cases, there's a printable pdf file (The original recall notice from GM)

As for the wipers, It Is a recall on the '96 (My mistake)

I have a 97 with the same problem, it wasn't a recall, but it was a
"special service policy" bulletin that was only in effect from Mar,'03 to Mar, 04'

I got the policy from the NHTSA site by doing a TSB search on the site.
I didn't need to download anything, or subscribe to any service.(Your federal dollars at work)

Re: Recall

I have a 1998 Blazer, which does not show wiper as a recall, but I have the same issue. Do you think its the cold solder joint? I'll try the fix someone else posted of opening up the wiper control motor board and retouching the solder. THANKS!

Welcome to the site. Please post a new thread in the problem diagnosis section as this one is almost 4 years old. Please refrain from posting in older threads in the future.
