Stereo/Lighter Fuse?

I was lighting a cigarette the other day and pushed in the car lighter in my 88 s-10 blazer. I have to hold it because it doesnt stay in and pop out like it should, while I was holding it I heard a pop that sounded like a fuse and my stereo turned off.. Now my Lighter gets no power and my stereo doesn't either. I checked all the underdash fueses and they were all ok, so I cant tell where the one popped or what happened.. Any help would be appreciated.

Also, about the same time as that happened I noticed that my Ebrake light stays on whether I have it engaged or not .. Its probaly unrelated to the fuse, but any information on it would be helpful .. Thanks

Re: Stereo/Lighter Fuse?

You need to check ALL of your fuses. There is one there for the Lighter. However, The Lighter plug has probably gone out to lunch and it will need to be replaced or you will blow another fuse. The bezel that covers the radio is removed and the lighter socket can be removed. Simple fix.

Not really sure about it, however I had this problem at one time and found that my parking brake was down too far contacting the contact. Might want to check just in case.

Re: Stereo/Lighter Fuse?

Also check the fluid level, it's often overlooked and causes the light to light up

it blew the horn fuse?! that should not be... maybe you shorted the cig lighter or something causing the power line to it to over heat, and short together with the brake indicator light wire. it's a long shot, but if you can't find out why it's doing that....

the brake light wire is tan/white on the 88.
