Question throttle body stuck? high idle RPMs-->Help!!

Hello,
I have a 2001 4.3 Blazer, 2 door stick-shift. I have been experiencing problem with the engine, the Idle speed has been ridicusly high, 3000-4000 RPMs (hot and cold). I changed the fuel filter and air filter, i used a bottle of fuel injector cleaner, all this was done while believing somethig was clogged and the engine was trying to compensate. None of the foremention solved the problem. now i think i have the problem narrowed down to the throttle body being stuck, this is because when i fidget with it temporarily fixes the problem at start up (hot or cold). I am thinking the unit is self might be causing the problem, can i fix this problem by adjusting something or any other help ould be great, thanks to all.

Re: throttle body stuck? high idle RPMs-->Help!!

In case any of you want to know i fixed the problem yesterday, it appears that the throttle body had some sort of restritor plate behind the flap, well this plate had become warped and damaged and eventually made the throtle body get stuck open. and this i found to be the cause of the problem. once i remoed this small piece of metal the car runs like new, of course i also replaced a bunch of parts that would also help

I have a 2000 Blazer 2- door 5 speed also and the same thing happened to me...except I was doing 80 on the interstate when I pressed in the clutch and redlined it...luckly my first guess was the throttle body...took the restrictor of and it ran perfect...except now it takes a while for the rpm's to go down after stopping...still haven't figured that out yet

Unhappy

That same thing happen to me.

I started my car one morning.. VROOOOOM!!! holy crap its stuck at 5k RPM. Anyways, I drove it to the dealership practically burning out everywhere (Ebrake+PowerBrakes to stop).

I got it in and what ended up happening was one of the butterfly valves that are inside of the throttle body fell off and went down into one of the valves of my engine.

So i would suggest mabye to get your car towed if you can.

YEAH and if you have the problem of your RPM having a hardtime going back down when you stop. It's most likely caused by the throttle body sticking alittle bit open and not shutting the whole way.

When i would stop i would hear my brakes hit, then right as im going to stop my car would push forward alittle bit.

Yeah, I had a similar problem too. The dealer left a chunk of rubber underneath my hood after doing some repairs. On driving home, the rubber fell into my throttle and wedged it open, causing the same problem...it was all i could do to veer off the highway and slow the thing down enough so I could shut it off. Very scary...

Re: throttle body stuck? high idle RPMs-->Help!!

If it was a w motor I'd say check for a plentium gasket leak. I had 2 out of the 6 circles in the center of the gasket crack. Caused high rpms and let off the gas pedal while driving and still cruise at 45 mph. $10 gasket was the fix. Since yours is throttle body check for a gasket leak too, just in case.

Do you mean after all that i have done?? or as a cause of the original problem? because there was a warped piece of metal that caused my problem in the first place.

Also, take some throttle body cleaner and a toothbrush and rag and scrub arounf the TB butterfly and get all the gunk out of there.

The stuff can have the TB stuck open a bit. Clean both sides of the butterfly and give it a good rinse with the TB cleaner. Also, when the air filer duct is remove, spray inside the small hose that goes straight back to the IAC.

When you are starting it it will run a little rough and then smooth out.
