Lightbulb emissions

hey guys, i just had a freind of mine buy a formula like mine and i mean exactly like mine accept for the engine :P. hes got the 305 TBI engine. he wants me to "tinker" with some stuff on it to give it a boost because he is turning it into a racer for the speedway down here. so i gutted his cat and left the shell on it and ran streight pipes to the back. but im not fimiliar to the emissions equiptment on his because mine doesnt have any (yes i know its not legal but what kind of cop is going to make u open your hood?) neways im going to take off the hoses and equiptment that he doesnt need to give him a few extra horses. but i dont know what hoses to take off. and on the TBI, does it do the same thing to plug the vaccuume hoses as it does with a carb?

Re: emissions

I think your flirting with disaster messing with the air management system especially on a 305. However I have seen it done before but the gain from removing all the hoses and a.i.r. pipes was neglible. Just remember if you remove hoses from the T/B or the intake just make sure to plug those vacume leaks and you should be fine.

good point. i guess being 17 has its disadvantages. i dont think of those things, i just do it, lol. neways i took the vaccume hoses off and sealed them off. i was looking into carb conversion and there are kits out there that allow it. think its worth a shot or no? (i was thinking demon or holly 800 or 850 the kit also comes with a CPU mod so the car doesnt freak out as soon as it finds out i took its manhood. :P

Re: emissions

forget about the carb conversion
again forget about it
what year is his car?
http://www.projecttransam.com/
and go to the install section and check air removal and things like that

on that car all you need is a good catback system a ram air/ cold air
and a good reprogram of the ecu and you should be happy until you want to open the motor

Re: emissions

its much cheaper to install the carb. plus he already has an EMS in his car, and cold air induction. and im running the pipes streight back (sounds better)
