Oil Question

Is it a good or bad idea to switch to synthetic? would it improve or hurt anything? or should I let sleeping dogs lie and keep with the regular oil? Not having any problems 'sides leaking oil pan gasket (which I'm fixing soon)..couldn't afford to leak synthetic...

Re: Oil Question

Synthetic our known to cause gasket leaks but also stay cooler under the same stress. I would say it has more advantage's then disadvantage's but if you have any small leaks fix them before you switch to synthetic and have big leaks.

Re: Oil Question

Thanks. So synthetic has more detergents? is that why they 'dissolve' gaskets quicker?? Or is that speculation?

Re: Oil Question

Well I recently switched to Sythetic Oil.

I bought that 13$ K&N Oil Filter and Mobil 1 Synthetic Motor Oil. And i have noticed that I have (a small but good) acceleration increase. Also some better Gas mileage (always a good thing). And runs better than before.

Of coarse that is my opinion towards this type of oil but...SYNTHETIC CHANGED MY LIFE!!! (CAR)
