engine light came on

Well I was driving home last night and noticed the car was sounding a little odd after going through fast food. It seemed kind of jerky or shaky and i definitely noticed loss of power but from the engine not the turbos as they were still boosting up to max boost. I noticed lately my car had been idling at 1500 rpms on startup and then after putting it in first and driving a few feet then stopping the idling would be at 1000 rpms or 900 rpms. I checked the dipstick and oil seemed high enough...maybe I should get the oil changed anyways and I'm pretty sure I got new spark plugs when my new engine was put in. However, any help would be appreciated as I was just going to get the oil changed and if it didn't help, i was going to take it to a mechanic later today. Thanks.

I thought the stock idle of these cars was 800 rpms. 1500 sounds likr too much.

Re: engine light came on

Mine sometimes idles higher on startup, depending on the weather...but if it goes down to 7-900 range I wouldn't worry about it too much.
Just a thought...it might be a bad o2 sensor...if they go bad I would think it would lead to all the problems you are having. But I'm not completely sure...go to Autozone and have them check the ECU codes for the CEL. They do it for free.

the Check Engine Light only comes on when you have air/fuel problems. either a bad O2 sensor, bad MAS, faulty fuel pump, clogged fuel injectors/fuel rail, anything related to fuel or air!

Yah, i pulled it into the garage and i smell a strong fuel smell coming out of it. Do u think i should just take it to a mechanic and just get what i need fixed on it. Like my reverse gear is gone because some plastic brushel on the transmission i guess broke off and the gear won't hold. Also my 2nd gear synchro isn't the best as i get the grinding noise on a hard shift. I'm thinking just taking it to the mechanic to get everything done.

Do u think it's ok to drive it to the place or is that bad and should i just get it towed? It seems fine enough to drive but I'm not gonna risk it unless it's ok.

If the mechanic is not too far just drive it, I mean you've been driving it so far right. If its like 3 counties away then yeah tow it. as for the repairs......I personaly dont screw around with that, if its beyond my skill then hell yes I take it to a mechanic. I rather pay like $600 and get it done right then screw around and wait for other stuff to go wrong. good luck with all that stuff man, hope you get it fixed soon.
