Continual tickin

Can anyone please help me with a 96 grand caravan 3 litre v6 that ticks steadily at idle, but gets faster as I accelerate? It started about 2 weeks ago, did this intermittently for a week, and now is pretty constant. Need this van to last a few more months.

Re: Continual tickin

My 94 Caravan 3.0 liter last year started ticking when first started up, but would go away once warmed up. now the motor ticks constantly, driving me nuts!!! I'm assuming the lifters are either faulty or there's not enough oil getting to the lifters causing this. Could the oil pump be shot, or would that cause other telltale signs. Or if it is the lifters, has anyone ever replaced them on a Caravan, and if so, how much are we talking in price and how hard is it to fix? My money situation won't allow me to trade it in so I gotta keep this one, Unfortunately. Any advice is greatly appreciated.

Is it a lifter tick or is it something else . The evaporator purge solenoids on the 3.0 can be pretty noisy , not much you can do about it . I was getting a little ticking when I first started it up and I started using something called Tufoil again , had used it before and the ticking is gone now even at startup . Don't know what weight oil you use but you could try useing a 10W-30 instead of 5W-30 if that is what you are using , my 3.0 always sounded like garbage on 5w-30 , just generally more noisy and not as smooth . Also make sure oil level is full in crankcase.
