Re: exaust rumble and backfire?

my 96 gs has a choppy sound to it.. like a crackle when i let off or down shift while braking... but i have a hp racing catback exhaust and i expected something like that...

i guess if its the stock exhaust and you know its a backfire it could be something. im not sure what but surly somebody here knows more than me on the matter so ill let them chime in. peace

Well it started after i got a rebuilt motor put in. i only had an axle back exaust and k&n filter. I tried everything i could think of, I put in denso plugs, nology wires, ingen intake, header,hi flow cat,2 1/4 catback with carbon fiber muffler and it still does it! could my timing be off? Can you check timing with aftermarket pulleys that don't have a mark? i don't know what else to try!

Re: exaust rumble and backfire?

its normal. its because your carbon fiber muffler really doesnt do much so you hear more exhaust noise and its not evened out like the stock muffler
