Often overlooked upgrade
Intercoolers were designed for lazy drivers not wanting to take the time to check their water/alky level in their injection system. I'm not going into alot of details as the sites i've posted says it all pretty much. I do know you can get a bigger temp. drop with water/alky than you can with intercoolers, but if you already have intercoolers you can upgrade your turbo's bigtime without spending bigbucks for larger intercoolers by adding water/alky injection.
http://www.key-ideas.com/2ndWaterInjection.htm For the DIY guys here's a good homemade system. http://members.cox.net/stevemonroe/AlcoholInjMod.html I have 2 friends that have converted NA Zed's to TT. One has 10:1 pistons and the other 10.5:1 pistons. For a normal TT to be equal to the power of these conversions it would take the following: The NA w/10:1 pistons 12# boost VG30DETT w/8.5:1 pistons 18# boost The NA w/10.5 pistons 16# boost VG30DETT w/8.5:1 pistons 24# boost Both guys run water/alky injection with no problems. The one with 10.5:1 pistons also uses Toluene 25% mix to 92 octane gas. |
