You should be able to get to it with a crowsfoot and an extension.

hey I believe my sending unit is going bad too (i get a lot of oil pressure fluxuations and I'm hoping its just the sending unit). Anyways I went to NAPA and they said they have both a 3 wire and a 2 wire sending unit listed for my 96 VIN W 4.3L blazer and I didn't know which one it takes, what does yours take? If you could give me a part number that'd be great too. Thanks.

also, I though my oil sending unit was bad too but it was a dirty oil filter going into bypass mode causing the oil pressure to flicker.

How old is your oil and oil filter?

rule of thumb: unless you are fond of paying snapon about $50 for the 4.3 sender, yank out mr happy distributor and its an easy grip for a medium metric crescent wrench.

AND

its a great time to install a t fitting to allow a real oil pressure gauge instead of the factory installed abortion.

can you give me more information about installing a t-fitting and how to use it to give a more accurate oil pressure reading? do you need a new gauge? what are the parts you need?

once out, take the extension out. use a 2" 1/8th npt nipple to raise above the manifold, then put a t fitting on that, screw the sender in the 'side' port so it now 'points' back at a 45 degree angle between the dist and firewall. then install the 1/8th npt fitting that any mechanical oil pressure gauge will use - I recommend sunpro - appx $25 at advance.
