Re: Question for marked001 about BOV-DV
..replaced the stock dv with the 710N from the tt.. its like a $30 part from audi.. and its alot more durable a valve.. pretty easy to change.. as long as you can get to it..I happened to do it when I was changing my timing belt..so I cant really comment on that

Re: Question for marked001 about BOV-DV
nah..no hybrid bov.. although I've heard teh stock ecu does not like them at all..so I'd avoid unless your'e chipped.. also I've heard tons of bad stuff about the GFB.. check out the hybrids from www.worxtuning.com
otherwise.. hook up a cone filter setup..and you'll be able to hear your dv..not as loud...but defintely noticeable.. and no running rich

Great
Do you have a cone filter on yours? had any problems with it?
Could you tell me more about were you bought it and how to install it? Do you have to take the air box out or you can leave the box, open it and put the cone in? Those don't have the same problem as the regular K&N drop in with the oil solution leak? I hope you can give me more info. Thanks. Another thing, to avoid possible problems you suggest just to replace the DV with the bigger one from the TT? I also saw one NEUSPEED that it was pretty much like the stock but with a little more resistance than the stock in the one I have 98. It said the new versions were better, that's probably the TT one? |

Re: Question for marked001 about BOV-DV
that's probably the one....just make sure its like $30.. if its alot more..avoid it, and order the 710n from ecs.. I havent put a cone filter on my car yet.. but I'm plannin on it one of these days..just gotta get off my ass and buy a filter..when I do.. I'll take some pics.. gotta pull the air box out and attached it to the MAF housing..unfortunately, you do still have oil problems since its basically the same type of filter..

Not convinced
I'm still not sure about that possibility of the oil leak in the MFA. It sucks not to have other option. And the worst thing is that it could or not happend!!! just living in to luck is not nice. I'm still intrigued if the possible leak is caused by the oil you add when you clean it or the one that comes impregnated from new.

Re: Question for marked001 about BOV-DV
The problem with the oil comes from both over oiling during maintenance, and over oiling from the factory. Either way, before you install the filter let it sit in the sun for a couple of hours, and wipe any excess oil from the filter by blotting with a lint free cloth.

But.......
We'll still can have problems when the heat from the engine gets to it don't you think. And for real, those are the only performance filters in the market that fit our cars? sucks!!!!

Re: Question for marked001 about BOV-DV
Last Friday, I took my car into a local independent shop to get Zimmermann rotors and Pagid pads put on the back wheels. The shop is tailored towards German cars, specifically Audi, BMW, and Porsche.
I asked the owner if he had heard anything about problems with K&N filters, and he said that he had. It came from too much oil on the filter. Sometimes they come from the factory that way, and other times it was done during maintenance. His solutions was to let them sit in the sun for a couple of hours. He said they put oiled filters on cars all the time, and this is the way they do it now. |

That's all?
So the sun will make the trick? how about the heat inside the engine, I bet that will make some oil come out, ohhh boy I'm really 50/50 about that. Thanks for the comment though. Do you have an oil filter in your car?
