Unhappy 94 CV will not shift into OD

My 94 Crown Vic will not shift into Overdrive.i can hit the OD button and drive fine with it out of OD but no OD . Any ideas ????

Does it drive when on "OD" after it shifts up from 3rd, or does it just rev up?

Your OD band is toast.

Unfortuneately, it's time for a new trans. You can lock-out OD and drive it for quite a long time however.

By locking it out you mean keep the OD off by means of the switch???
The biggest thing I am losing is the gas mileage since it does have OD anymore Correct ?

Howver I should not complain the car has 255,000 miles the engine still runs real well and the cars does everything else very well.

Right, push the TCC switch after you start the car each time, and you will only hurt you fuel consumption rating.

Beware of "rebuilt" transmissions to. VERY VERY few places, even the national brands do even a decent job. If you decide to replace it, I suggest a Factory Ford reman.

Thanks for your help.I will have to drive a while until I have enough pennies saved for the tranny, even at its mileage it sure runs GOOD. thanks again.

My 96 crown Vic trans won't even make it over 35 MPH its stuck on stupid, it won't make it out of 2nd gear. it takes off fine shifts to 2nd fine wont make it to 3 just revs higher and higer. . . HELP!
