Stealth R/t Engine Trouble
Hello Guys..
i own a 92 Stealth R/t and i woke up today to find something weird with the car...when i start the car...there is a very very strong noise coming out from the engine....its like the same noise of a truck when its parked..!! However guys when i step on the gas pedal and drive away the noise stops....when i slow down and come to a full stop it comes back again...so its like when i drive...its fine...but when i stop it turns into that truck noise....i checked under the hood...everything is fine..the noise is not coming from the main engine...its coming from the builts area...and there is no CHECK ENGINE light in the dash..!! I asked for help, some told me throw the whole engine away..its done for good...some said it needed a new engine head...and some said its the first time they hear of such a thing...!! HELP..!! thanks |

What i meant its coming from the further most right of the engine, where you can see all the builts running..!!
and as for the noise....i remember it used to be a ticking noise when i first started the car but it used to go away after the car is on for awhile...now the same noise exists but it doesnt go away after the car has been on for awhile...and yes i can say its probably a ticking noise..!! or at least close to that....!! |

Re: Stealth R/t Engine Trouble
linkbckr, be easy on him just because he doesnt know very much about cars doesnt mean you have to give him crap.
Wordlife, are you talking about the belts? (builts??) It its a ticking noise check that your oil isnt low. Maybe change the oil depending on how many miles have gone by. |

Re: Stealth R/t Engine Trouble
hey..im wordlife's friend n i wuz with him when it happened....the noise is coming from the right hand side of the engine...i believe its where the timing belt is...and the noise is like tick tick tick .... its kinda close to a diesel engine's noise...thats as close as i can get to describing it...any questions ?

Talskin, i wasn't givin him crap, sorry if it sounded like i was, didn't mean for it to come across like that. I was just honeslty taken aback trying to think of what builts were, but belts seems like a good guess.

I took it to the dealership...
the timer needs to be changed, the valves, the head of the engine needs to be machined....its all gona cost me around 2200 canadian dollars...which is alotta money...but hey..i have no other choice..!! REASON IS: change the timer chain every 100,000 Km's...or u will end up having the same problem.. good luck everyone |
