2000 Suburban Power Windows

Hi guys and ladies,
I bought a 2000 Suburban LT 4x4 2 weeks ago. Well about a week ago the rear passenger window would not function, it was in the up position. Well about 5 days later the other rear window stopped working, again in the up position sometime after starting vehicle for each window. Well today on my way home from work the passenger rear started working again. I am awair of the window lock button.(the dealer which I bought it from thought he would pass it off as being operator error) The window lock button is never locked. I guess I was wondering if anyone else has eperienced this and if so what was the problem. I was thinking relay but by looking at the diagram all windows wouldn't work. Any info on this what seems to be an intermittent problem would help.
Thanks, Courtland

Re: 2000 Suburban Power Windows

I have a 2000 suburban also, and had the same problem with my drivers side window, the motor had to be replaced (under warranty). I now have the same problem with my passenger side window, and I haven't had it replaced yet. When the drivers side motor was replace I was told that the motors were a common problem.

Re: 2000 Suburban Power Windows

Thanks mad finn for your reply. I have also had the same experience as you with the problem being bad motors. Fortunately the dealer I bought the vehicle from was is willing to replace both of the rear motors at their expense. They will replace next week. Thanks again.

Re: 2000 Suburban Power Windows

Mine went out within a few months of purchase. The dealer replaced two regulators, P/N 15071220 LR and P/N 15071219 RR. At the time there was a backlog so it took two months to get the parts in. (Sept of 2000 to Nov of 2000) I was told there was many replaced during this time. I found the reciepts for these part numbers.

Re: 2000 Suburban Power Windows

I had the same problem recently with my right rear window. Upon discussing this with my son, he did some research and discovered that if the windows aren't used frequently, they develop a "dead spot". Generally, slamming the door while holding the window switch cures it. That did it! Now, whenever we go anywhere, we always lower the windows just a bit (maybe only 1/4 inch) and the problem has yet to come up again.
Just wanted to pass that along.
