I have a 1990 cougar, with ABS and when I start the vehicle, the brake pedal remains extremely hard, no brakes whatsoever and the red brake light and yellow ABS lights stay on. After a few ignition on and offs, the lights will go out and I have brakes again, but only until the ignition is turned off.

89 XR7 brake problem, electrical problems
I've had the same brake problems with my 89. I haven't tried the on-off ignition cycle but I will. My problem seems to come and go. I'm told I need to replace the anti-skid module. Cost is very high. I also have a electrical problems. The keyless entry keypad won't work and when I open the door, the dome lights won't come on. They work with the light switch and the power locks work in the doors. Any ideas?
