Volant vs K&N Air Intake
Ok... so I don't mean to start a holy war here, but a guy here in Utah has suggested that the Volant Cool-Air intake is better than the K&N... said that the filter doesn't need to be oiled or cleaned as regularly... now that being said the guy that said it happened to be a Volant dealer... does anyone have any experience with both? I see lots of people rigs here are running the K&N... I live at about 7200FT and am probably already chocking my engine by just living up here so I would like to get her a much of this thin air as possible...
TIA for the help... -Starks951 |

Re: Volant vs K&N Air Intake
I read an article, in Fall '04 of Truckin', about the Volant. I did see it on a few trucks in that magazine that listed 25 of their top 100 rides. I'm not a dealer, but it just seems to be a no brainer that the Volant is fully enclosed whereas the K&N and Airaid are not or have only a shield. So in that regard, I can see the Volant filter staying cleaner. As for performance, I'm not sure on their numbers.

Re: Volant vs K&N Air Intake
i have the k&n on my 02 denali 6.0L and i love it. it sounds a lot better than i thought it would. but im no pro on this subject but i thought about both of those intakes before i purchased the k&n (i couldnt bring myself to purchase another enclosed intake like the stock one was). but like i said i am no pro on this subject, i just know im extremely pleased with my k&n fipk. (i got mine off ebay for $209 brand new)
