after about 2500 rpms the engine will just rev not giving power

I have a 99 expedition xlt. I had it for about 5 years now and there has not been that many problems. It now has about 102000 miles on it. the problem is when u are acclerating up a hill or even on flat land the power cuts out after about 2500 rpms. You can only push the gas so hard if you push to hard the engine will just rev. It seems like i am loosing more power everyday. By power I mean it is not giving the rear axle the muscle to turn. If you push the gas to hard it is like sitting in park and reving the engine. If you do that the battery light starts flashing in my expedition. Can anybody give me an idea what migth be wrong?

Try "catalytic converter"

$600 a side at a muffler shop

$1200 a side with Genuine Ford Parts

You sure it's the "battery light"? If the MIL is flashing, it means the computer is cutting off the fuel to certain cylinders to protect the catalytic converter, as it would if the engine has a "hard" misfire.
