villager 94 transmission problem

I am having a problem with my transmission. In the morning, with the engine cold, everything is fine. When the car has warmed up, the transmission goes into neutral and can not be brought into any gear. Let the car stand for a while and it works again for a short distance. When it works, it works without any problems. Shifts fine.
I suspect an electronic control problem and that the trans itself is fine.
Any help out there? Thanks.

Re: villager 94 transmission problem

I am going to assume that you have the 4 speed (overdrive) tranny..

Let me suggest that you take your voyager to a tranny shop to scan for transmission codes. (different than the engine codes).

there are many things that could be wrong

input/output sensors
control module
solenoid pack
clutches worn out
old tranny fluid

When was the last time that the fluid was changed? also, was it changed with ATF+3? If you can't remember when you last changed it, you could do a fluid change, clean pan, and change filter. It might just clear up the problem. Or, you could call tranny shops around and see if someone will scan it for free. a small, independant, local shop is more likely to scan it for free.
