Disabling ABS On 99 Silerado

Is there any way to do this without having to put up with the nuisence ABS light? I was also told if you pull the fuse, the brake light will illuminate also. Any truth to this?
Thanks.

With the fuse pulled both the ABS and Brake indicator lights glow. Add the high beam and cruise control, at night my dash looks like a Christmas tree.

I had my ABS module go out on me about a year ago. 2 weeks afterwards, the ABS light and e-brake light on my dash were driving me nuts.

So I took out my cluster, peeled back the top of the gauge face and put some electrical tape over the two holes the lights illuminate through. Fixed that problem...sorta

Re: Disabling ABS On 99 Silerado

Anyone know if disabling the ABS affects the "Auto" 4 wheel drive mode? I suspect the wheel sensors have a role in this.

Auto 4wd is nothing more than a buch of clutches in the T-case, the wheel sensors might detect wheelspin or something, but other than that, I dunno.

My Auto 4WD still seems to function since the ABS controller died about 2 years ago.

you can pull the fuse, and you can also climb under the truck on the drivers side and disconnect the wires from teh actual unit itself, we've had soem trucks come in and the motor is still pumping away, makes such a loud racket LOL, so we just unplug the unit on the rail, and pull the fuse... TA DA!!! lol

worked great just used my trusty drivers license to carefully peel it away enough that i could get a small piece of tape in there, and it's like the lights aren't even on. thanks!

Re: Disabling ABS On 99 Silerado

I have a question for you...is the 99 panel like a 2000? If so my ABS light is part of the Message Center and if I covered mine up then I wouldn't be able to see if something really important came up...like "Stop Engine It's Gonna Blow"
