i am thinking about selling my Mitsubishi Eclipse GS-T (turbo) and getting a Honda Civic for some reason lol but before i buy one i am wondering why i always see people with Civics do motor swaps? is it just for a bigger engine or is their something wrong with the engines that come in them?

Are you serious? Okay, there is nothing wrong with the engine that comes in them, but some people are not happy with the power there stock engine puts out. If that is the case, you can do a swap. For example. You could buy a 98 hatch back, and put the 99/00 si engine in it, (the 99/00 si was only avalible in coupe) This would give you less wieght, and more power.

Exactly bigger engines in lighters cars = faster speeds. Not everyone does it but most of us here like the speed. Also a majority of us didint get our civic to haul grocerys in we bought them to rip them apart and make them original to our own appeal.

I still have my stock D16Y8, and I won't swap it. To me, the engine is the soul of the car; that's what makes it a 97 Civic EX. Change whatever else you want, but don't touch my engine. If I want a DOHC, I'll buy a car that comes with one. Don't worry, Eclipse. The engines are fine for most purposes. I do like speed, but if 125 mph isn't fast enough for you, you may want to look into the swap.

Not everyone wants to swap and is inclined to. You can get a lot of power out of d-series motors. The B-series have a lot more potential, but I think I would be happy with 400 hp on a SOHC motor.

WTF? Listen, I'll applogize if he does, but this forum is used to voice our opinions and try and help others. In my opinion, you shouldn't listen to Kafziel, and GScivic7. True the D-series can provide power, but look what you have to go through to get it. It would make much more sense to swap and build from there. Again my opinion.
