I would say yes. That is the same question I had before I bought mine. I knew a lot of people who had mid 90s chevy trucks w/ 200+ thousand miles on them w/ original motors. With the introduction of the vortec engines, things only got better. My 97 Z71 has 108,000 miles on a vortec 350. Many of these miles have been anything but highway miles and I have been nothing but impressed with the reliability of this truck. I wouldn't buy anything but a chevrolet again.

Re: Is the Silverado..

I have had a 92 with 200K and the 2003. The only thing I ever did to the 92 was tuneups and motor mounts. Working parts at a Chevrolet dealer for 8 years I have seen some common little gripes with them but overall they are very reliable as long as you take care of them. Taking good care of your vehicle and regualr maintenence will ensure a long life for just about any vehicle though.

My 1998 5.7 K1500 has about 87,000 miles and I drive it very conservatly, always maintain at or before reccomended intervals, And this truck has done nothing but break, break, and more breaks. big stuff like ring and pinions fuel pump at 37,000 miles (1,000 after warranty isn't that nice) # 5 clyinder burned valves, intake manifold internal water leaks, A/C been useless 5 minutes after driving off dealer lot, stuck poppet valves, pitman arm, lower ball joints, water pump, door handles, hood release lever, tailgate cables snapped, brake rotors (lateral runout), cv joints, calipers....and alot of little things. I paid 33,000 in late 1998 for this top of the line silverado. It looks great as far as body, paint, interior. I must have gotten a built on friday afternoon truck, everyone in a hurry to start the weekend, so they slap togethr the remaining truck chassis sitting on the assembly line. I never off roaded this truck and like I said have always been on top of maintenace. After all this I would still buy another Chevy. I'm a loyal chevy customer from the day I got driver's lic. which was the day I turned 16, not gonna let one expensive truck ruin all the beautiful chevy's i have owned, My favorite 1968 SS396 El camino absolutley perfect condition. Cops would pull me over to just check out the beautiful restoration job.

Re: Is the Silverado..

i have 1989 silverado w/350 efi. the truck has about 150k miles with orginal motor(never rebuilt), original trans, and has the orginal paint. i live up in canada, drove this truck every winter and this truck is still running strong. oh yeah, just put it through the emission test, during the spring and it past with flying colors. if they make the newer ones like they did my 89 than i have to say that it's a good investment

See sig...

I don't have the performance or the gas milage that I did before. You have to keep in mind it was my daily driver for 6 years, but I raced it in mud drags all through the summer for 4 years straight (kicked ALOT of a** doing it too). I still trusted it enough to take it to the Silver Lake sand dunes over this last Labor day weekend. It was a 8 hour drive round trip, I beat the hell out of it the whole time (pics in sig soon), and I had no problems. As far as the new ones go, all my friends drive new Silverado's and out of six trucks, the only problem is one with 35,000 miles had a squeeky driver door panel.

I have a 90 with 216,000 miles on it. Lot of highway miles, lot of miles in the mountains while hunting. When I hit 210k I replaced the original engine, since my mileage had dropped and it was getting a bit tired. Still running the original tranny. Between 130k and 175k I ended up replacing a lot of little things that just wore out, the alternator, starter, water pump, fuel pump. Nothing major really. With the new motor, I'm back to getting close to 20 MPG on the highway, and around 16 MPG in town. Could use a paint job, but thats about it. I wouldn't trade it for a new one.

Re: Is the Silverado..

As far as I am concerned, there ain't but one truck. That's a chevy. Mine is a 95 Z-71 with 217,000 on it and it still runs strong. Still has original trans too. Only replaced small stuff. Doesn't leak, drip, or smoke. i pull 20 ft. gooseneck with 4-5 grown cows every now and then, and also a bass boat all over the state of Ga. Only mods are no cat, duals, and 1 inch thrttle body spacer. And with all this said I have to knock on wood! Been a damn good truck!!!
