have a question & Hello
new to the site here & have a question
does anyone know if theres any truth to being able to use a tranny from a 2wd truck for a 4wd truck with changing a few items OD unit etc etc I have a 95 ram 1500 4x4 and it is in need of a tranny but I dont have an extra $1500 lying around to replace it, I found a A518 from a 95 2wd 1500 with the 5.2, mine is a 5.9 and I know I would need a TC from a 5.9 being that the 5.2's were better balanced motors and the TC for those required no weights on them and the 5.9's did. so does anyone know if it can be done? |

Re: have a question & Hello
Should be no problem at all, as long as you switch out those parts that you need to switch. The bolt patterns are the same on everything.

Re: have a question & Hello
Check the length on the tailshaft of the transmission, it may be different between 2wd and 4wd. My brother has a 99 and was in the same situation, could have saved a bundle with teh 2wd tranny, but it was a different size. Also, depending in the engine, the output shaft may be a different diameter, so check that stuff first, or make sure you can return it.....
