Question 3SGTE Engine Swap

Has anybody put a 3SGTE Turbo from a Celica All-Trac into an N/A MR2. If so what all is involved, and what are the advantages/disadvantages of using the engine form the Celica All-Trac.Also would it be better to use a Jap imported 3rd gen 3SGTE.

Re: 3SGTE Engine Swap

you have to do a LOT of wiring. that's the worst part. but why the 3sgte from an alltrac? what's wrong with the mr2's?

better is dependant on the amount of hassle you want to live with

I didn't know if the top mounted intercooler on the all-trac made it any better. I am 17 and on a limited budget and I know someone with a wrecked all-trac with a 3SGTE and he is willing to give me the whole car. I have an 91 N/A MR2 and I would like to have a turbo.

turbo swap

I threw the rods on my 91 na mr2 and would like to put in the turbo engine. If I get the turbo engine, transmission, and the ECU with all the wiring would i be able to do it in my garage. I can't afford to have it dome professionally.

Re: 3SGTE Engine Swap

well, the tmic is only better if it's air/water and if you can set it up correctly. click on the picture in my sig, i used an air/air one for my project, but the airflow is terrible, and the only reason it's there is that i figure "some intercooler is better than none"

as far as the engine goes, what year is the alltrac?

I think it is a 91 or 92 all-trac. The car is in my backyard and has been hit badly in the rear. I know it has the 3SGTE Turbo.
