will a 245/45/17 fit a 2g rear or front and rear?

I got some free tires (Conti GT's) to put on my 03 GTS rims. They are 245's though.

Also the other tires are 225/55's they are taller than the 245/45's and the stock tires. What could happen if I temporarily used them on the front?

first of all, continentals are sh!tty tires. second of all, the tires will fit the rims, but will stick way out past the rim edge (i'm talking as much as an inch or 2 on each side).this will probably cause rubbing.

OK so it is my understanding that an AWD should not run different rolling diameters front to rear because it could damage the drivetrain.
