|
third brake light does not work
anyone know if there is a relay or module in between the fuse box and the third (center high mounted stop light) brake light? My two lower brake lights work, but the one in the rear spoiler does not. I took a volt meter to the bulb sockets wires and did not get a reading. The fuse is good but no light...

cant remember, but on third gens there is a contact pad next to the hatch pulldown, that sends the power to the third brake light, so if its corroded, or if the circuit is open somewhere behind the interior trim, it would cause your problem.

im pretty sure that the fourth gens third brake light is powered from a line run through the roof and into the hatch directly back of the rear dome. im not sure on that, but you might want to look there...

yeah, simple rule of law, if you have a third brake light it has to be operational, its called factory safty equipment, and you gotta have it. otherwise your car will not pass inspection, and you can get tickets for it. gotta say nina, usually im pretty impressed with your advice, but that was pretty dumb.
