what kinda bike is this?

what kinda bike is this

my cousin is in iraq fighting right now and when he gets back he's getting that bike.

me and him always do things together, and if he's getting a bike then i'm getting a bike.

he say's he's getting it for dirt cheap $2,000.00
i have no clue how much those things normally cost, but what do i need to get in order to keep up with that thing and how much will it run me, used?

That looks like a early generation Yamaha R1 with Deltabox II. It's a liter a bike (1000cc). Unless you guys had previous experience with streetbikes, it's too much to start on.

Re: what kinda bike is this?

^ What he said. It definately looks like an earlier model Yamaha. And again, if you have little to no riding experience, you need to read the stickies at the top of this forum.

Re: what kinda bike is this?

you really need to take your time with these kind of things... i come from a dirt bike background and when i finally 'graduated' from a 80cc to a 125, i was absolutely SH@T scared of the power difference.. one of our new members recently got a 250cc and it scared the crap out of him when he actually revved too high and dropped the clutch...

i'm always going to push for people to start on 250's... but at the end of the day, its your money, its your brain, its your blood, spilled all over the road...

you could say that im a LITTLE 250 biased

Re: what kinda bike is this?

(although, ALOT of people start on 600's and there fine..) but i like the idea of getting straight onto a 250, feeling relevantly confident, and being able to push the bike to its absolute limits, THEN.. moving up

dude, that doesn't make sense. zx7 kawasaki 600? it's either/or, ZX-7 is a 750 cc bike, and the 600 in the end could be any one of myriads of kawaski 600 ccs bike.

Re: what kinda bike is this?

I think he meant the 600, not the 7.

Re: what kinda bike is this?

oops that is what i meant, the 600cc

but my buddy is gonna teach me how to ride his gsx suzuki 600 or 650, and i'll also be taking a class here soon.

you know i've had people say don't go over 600cc for a first bike, and then others say get whatever you want as long as you have self controll.
my buddy with the gsx said its too dangerous, cause if i make a mistake, the bike will fly from underneath me. then some other guy says its actually easier to ride a 10 or 12 then it is a 750 or 6 or 5, but you have to have self controll.

i don't know, i'm still doing a lot of reasearch on bikes.

btw, my fav bike is the zx1200r. its just sexy

Re: what kinda bike is this?

I am a strong proponent of starting at or BELOW 600/650ccs. You THINK you have self control... then after about 3500 miles you get confident... a little TOO confident... and shit hits the fan, and you make it a lot cheaper for other people owning 600s to get replacement parts for their bike.

...and perhaps replacement organs too, IF said organs are still intact...
