My "Check Engline Light" just came on, so I just checked my oil, and it was pretty low, so i just replaced it. Then the light went away, but now it just came back on. WTF.

Re: My Check Engline Light Is On..

Have you run it for codes? If you haven't and don't have a scanner you can go to a parts store and ask them to run it for codes. Then you can use this to try and find the issue.

I just had to replace an oxygen sensor on mine to get the light to cut off and its a 95 w/4.6.

Hope you can figure it out man.

Re: My Check Engline Light Is On..

Fluid levels will never affect a CEL. Sensors affect the CEL, not including low oil, low washer fluid, or other useless sensors, only sensors that affect emissions and engine operations. If it comes on and goes off periodically it could be many things. If it stays off during the first few miles of driving or until the engine has reached normal operating temperatures and then comes on, it is probably an O2 sensor or two.

By the way, I love your gauges. I wish mine would hit 120.... Stupid fuel cut-off....

Re: My Check Engline Light Is On..

Yep Go to your local pep boys or auto parts store and they'll check the codes for free. The thing that goes wrong the most in cars to make the light go off is emissions.. EGR valve, 02 Sensors (one of mine), Coolant temp. sensors and stuff. Nothing that's going to seriously effect the drivability.
