fuel pump-maybe

OK. I have seen notices on the board about fuel pumps on 97 suburbans.

I have been having the following symptoms:

1. Push gas pedal hard no improvment in speed or RPM's.
2. Start the engine and it will stall shortly after starting.
3. I replaced fuel filter thinking that was cuprit.
a. I have done this every 30k up to now.

What do you all think it could be. There are 95K on the vehicle. Maintained to the book and use only synthetic in it, oil and all lubes.

Thanks in advance.

I checked the fuel pump for initialization. It initializes. I guess I will check the relay. Seems that would not allow the pump to initialize then.

From my experience, if the fuel pump initializes and the car starts, it's not the fuel pump. You may want to look into the pressure regulator or one of the sensors. Sounds like it might be time for $money$ spent at the dealer for a diagnosis. My freind had a Jimmy and replaced the fuel pump, filter, pressure reg., injector control mod., cam sensor and assorted other goodies only to find out it was the main CPU after taking it to a GM dealer who COULD actualy diagnose it with their equipment and software.

Also when you first initialize the pump and try it again, you have to wait about 10 seconds or so before it will do it again.

By the way i'm not a professional mechanic, but I have worked on cars for over 30 years and I am a mechanical engineer that works with MRI and CT scanners. So to me machines are machines and they can all be fixed.
