In search of repair manual - or at least some engine pictures!

I have an 89 Audi 90 with issues. It all seemed to have started on, around, or soon after I had the brake booster replaced. Unfortunately this wasn't my car to play with before the problems, so I don't know what it is supposed to look like under the hood as opposed to what is there now.

It starts okay and runs for about 10 minutes or so, then there is smoke coming through the vents and once it is warmed up a bit, it stalls out (even at high speeds) and can take WAY too long to get started again. Once there was smoke coming out of the exhaust once it got going again. Also, it runs rich as I can see black soot around the exhaust. Also sounds like there may be a vacuum leak in the engine compartment.

I plan to head up to pull-a-part and look at an 80 and a couple of 100s they have on site just to see. Anyone know of any good repair manuals or have any ideas of what is up with this car? Maybe they didn't hook something up or hooked it up wrong after the booster repair?

Any information or assistance is appreciated.
sorry so wordy,
Suz

eek

A 100 will look much different under the hood.

The 80 as long as it is the same engine will look the same. I would check to see if the vac line to the booster is connected to the vac pump then to the intake.

And or check to see if your car has had the PCV update. The rubber hose that comes off the PCV port on the lower left side of the motor that attaches to a pipe running around the back of the motor to the intake boot. Audi updated the old rubber hose to a metal pipe with 2 smaller rubber pieces on either end. Perhaps when the booster was removed they could have ruptured the hose, also helping to explain the smoke, burnt oil?

Send me an e-mail I can send you a pic if that will help.
