lights dim(flash)

as you can see i have a lot of little problems with my camaro and im looking for answers.....i have a problem with my lights diming and then flashing when im downshifting....i'll try to explain....lets say your going from 5th to 4th and now your reving down...there is a point when your reving down that the car kind of almost pops out of the rev down and at that point your downshifting doesnt slow you down anymore (i hope thats normal atleast, im assuming so, and hope you understand what im trying to explain) well anyways when it reaches that spot when reving down where it pops out of the rev the lights dim and flash in the whole car....anybody have any ideas? it gets kind of annoying and im sure the cars coming at me at night think its kinda weird too...i can try to explain this better if u need me too

kinda sounds to me like a bad voltage regulator. when mine was screwing off, i'd rev the engine up and the lights would get brighter. then when the rpms would drop to an idle they'd get dim then just flicker back to the brightness they should be.

i think yours is built into the alternator. most autoparts stores like autozone, o'reilly's etc. will check your alternator for free

oh i forgot, you can also hook a voltmeter to the battery. while it's running you should get around 13-15 volts, but it should stay constant. give the engine a few rev's, the voltage at the battery shouldn't change more than probly 1 volt.
