firebird -89

hello.
first I'd like to say that I'm a total newbie what-so-ever when it comes to us cars. Also I apologize for my poor english.

Anyway, got an -89 firebird 2.8l v6, that until a few days worked very good. But all of an sudden, one day out driving the car kinda just lost "power". As if the engine got no fuel. However it runs perfectly on idle. When I wanna drive away, it feels like its gonna choke. And when the engine gets warmer it won't go over 3500/rpm. There's also an bad smell and white smoke comming from the hood. Plus the air intake sound has changed to more rawer sound almost as if it was supercharged...
I also suspect that the exhaust is leaking.

some probs huh... =)
If anyone could help me with this a bit, I'd be more than thankfull.
/Anders
