loud creaking from left front brake!

I just bought a used '97 blazer and noticed that the left front brakes make a loud creeking noise as it came to a stop, (not a squeek or a grind, but a creeeek, creeek). I told the sales man to look at it and he said that they had just replaced the pads and it will go away. Now it has been almost a month and it is still there, actually was louder today after a lot of rain yesterday. I only happens when I am coming to a final stop and only if the brake is applied sort of hard. Anyone have any idea what it might be and how to fix. It's only coming from the front driver side axle.

just a 30-day 1000mile warranty, just ran out, as luck would have it. So I have to fix it myself, probably beeter that way anyhow. Never Trust a dealer's mechanic!

Sounds like a dry ball joint to me. Same area and could be easily be mistaken for the brakes.

Have you greased all 11 grease joint on your front suspension lately?

Remember too, to get all of the zerks on linkage and stering components, your front shield is going to have to come off. A few bolts, cheater bar and a can of your favorite loosener will do the trick. With the guard in place, you can only see and reach half of them!

Re: loud creaking from left front brake!

^^I concur.

Most people never grease their front ends and Jiffy Lube don't even try. They might sound like they are, but everytime I have gone home and inspected it it was dry as a bone.
