Exhaust Manifold replacement
I need to replace my exhaust manifold because it is cracked. I've read on a few other posts that exhaust manifolds for taco's cost 200-350$. This one http://www.1aauto.com/1A/ExhaustMani...P1390385/34796
is only priced at 100$. Is this just a crappy manifold that shouldn't be used, or does that 200-350 dollars include the price of labor too? Does this manifold have poor corrosion resistance or something or what? What's making the 150 dollar or so difference? |

Re: Exhaust Manifold replacement
Looks ok. Don't forget that a cast iron part costs about $5 to make and the rest is profit. It may be junk, but it may work also. You will never know unless you can find someone who bought one.
I say go for it. All it has to do is seal on the head and exhaust pipe. Hard to figure how they could screw that up. Before you install it, check the flatness of the mating surface that fits against the head. If it is flat and the bolt holes line up well, it will probably work. As far as corrosion resistance goes, cast iron is cast iron. Just make sure you put antisieze on the bolt threads. |

Re: Exhaust Manifold replacement
You're welcome. Hope it works out good. If you care about corrosion and want it to look good. Paint it with high-temp primer and paint before you install it. Protect the bolt holes and gasket surface from overspray.
