95 Rear Quarter Windows
The rear quarter windows in my 95 Windstar will not open. There is a noise back by the window, sounds like gears moving. I have checked all of the other threads. The only one regarding rear quarter windows said to take out the switch and clean the copper connections with sandpaper. But, if the motor or whatever is moving, do I need to take the switch apart and clean the connections? Any suggestions on what to do? (I'm a beginner)

Re: 95 Rear Quarter Windows
Take both seats out, for easy access to the side panels. Take that sides rear seat belt mount off, remove side panels from that side, disconnect the the electrical connector at the motor, using a digital volt meter with the test leads, check the connector while someone operates the switch for up and down, your meter should jump from a positive voltage to a negative voltage (approximately 12 volts) and if that works, more than likely the motor needs replaced.

rear quarter windows don't work
Just had the same problem with my 96
there are a number of different motors used over the different model years Early 95's had a remote motor where you need to take off the complete rear panels later models late 95 early 96 had a motor which is in the rear uppper back panel late 96 and up are a different shape due to changes in the rear body panel I found one of my motors had a stripped gear and the other had a burnt out internal electrical connector replaced both but combined the two i took out to have one complete spare . you need to have a special wrench to remove the rear seat seat belt assembly (cant remember if its a 45 or 55) other than that its easy . you can buy used from a wrecker they will usually guarantee to be working or refund or exchange paid $75 Canadian for the both good luck roger |

Re: 95 Rear Quarter Windows
Can anyone tell me what the tool is called to take the seatbelt "bolt" off? The "bolt" looks like it would take a hex wrench or something?

Re: Re: 95 Rear Quarter Windows
Hi
It is a Torx head. I have a set of 7Torx bits that fit on a 3/8 ratchet sold by Sears (craftsman). The largest is a T-50 and it fits the rear seat belt bolts on my '96. |
