K&N Products

I just wanted to know about the difference between the k&n filter and the full intake, how much power would each one give on a 2000 v-6 bird with a flowmaster exhaust and also how much better do they make the car sound?

Re: K&N Products

I can't comment on the panel filter vs full intake system kit. A K&N filter usually makes the tone of the exhaust a little deeper.

You'll get a better sound out of the full intake than you will from just the filter. The K&N FIPK intake will also give you more power than just the filter will because it'll be less restrictive then the factory air filter housing and it'll pull in colder air. I have the intake on my car and love it but I put the loudmouth exhaust on first so I couldn't tell the differnece in sound with the intake because the sound of the exhaust drowns it out. I used to have a flowmaster on mine and you could probably hear the intake over it.

Re: K&N Products

With just a filter change you'll get a 0-3 Horsepower increase and CAI you'll get 3-10 Horsepower even though most company's claim like a 15 Horsepower increase from these kits they usually show gains of 5 horsepower or under when put on the dyno

Re: K&N Products

heres an interesting little trick u can do with the k&n filters. i had 1 on my frebird before i put a holly filter on it. take a blizard fan or a blow dryer with a cold air option on it. stick it right in front of the intake and use some ductape to seal it if u need to. then turn it on high and drive the car. i know it sounds crazy but its better than paying 3 grand for a supercharger. i put a blizard fan on top of my carb with a custom filter and fabricated a mount for it. the fan was making a 5 lbm. boost of air. i went to an empty parking lot and floored it and the thing sat in 1 spot for about 10 secs burning the tires before it started moing forward. but being as u prob got fuel injection, for it to work right, u might have to tell the CPU to spray more gas into the car. its crazy but a fun trick
