What year is the car? Do you have an information panel? Or so, take it to oil %. Hold reset for about 10 sec. and it should change.

This worked on my girlfriend's Grand AM:
just put the keys in the ignition, turn it to "ON"(engine should be off) then depress the gas pedal all the way down 3 times, then turn the car on. The computer gets reset and the change oil light goes away. Try that.

Your 1996 Mitsubishi 3000GT VR-4 is the 92nd out of the 315 that were made that year. Only 21 of which are exactly identical.
