Re: B18c

what year is your car because if it is a 93 or older then the 94 is illegal to swap. And the tranny would have to go. D series only mixes with D series and b series only mixes with b series.

Re: B18c

His cars a '94, he said it in his post. And are you sure about the illegal-ness of the swap if it was a certain year? I've only ever heard of Cali having that problem. Like here in NY it doesn't matter as long as a motors going in a '95 or earlier it won't matter what year motor goes in there. But that's because they're going to start some emissions thing for OBD2 cars, or so I've heard and read on some government site; but all the mechanics I know say it's not true so I don't even know if that'd matter.

Re: B18c

Anywhere that has emissions pretty much has that law where an engine older than the car can not be swapped in.

Yes, I was talking about Cali. I'm not sure where he lives but I guess other states might have the law.

I actually JUST did the D15B7 to B18C1 swap.

engine came complete - tranny, ac comp, p/s pump, ECU etc.
you WILL need a new cat or some welding. mine definatley didn't match up nor to an aftermarket I had, so I bought a generic type high flo cat and had the flanges welded on (its pretty cheap) You will need new motor mounts - that sucker is heavy and barely clears the hood. mine came with axles as well, purchase all new sensors and belts/hoses.
I was able to reuse my AEM CAI.
also I had to get my ac hoses custom done - unless you put the whole tegra ac system (which I'm not sure fits) - I had just done my whole civic ac so I only changed the compressor that goes to the eng and had to mod the hoses to match both systems ($40)
The post he has on this site about swaps is really good, but I wasn't aware of the cat problem and I still haven't worked out the extra O2 sensor that keeps my CEL on all the time. I think there is a way to splice some wires to fix it.
almost forgot - watch how you route the throttle cable, they tried to force mine the wrong way around my alarm and it broke (while I was driving)
