is the whole world going to hell in a handbasket?

OK i'm sick of this leftist rightist bullshit. I'm resigned to thinking that the whole world is fucked and we might as well enjoy the ride rather than hook in the anchors and try and keep the world like the good old days. Any thoughts?

See, now you're thinkin. I think the whole world is going to hell too. There's so much retarded, worthless crap going on. It's ridiculous. That's why you have to grab your information from all sides and draw your own conclusion of who you believe to be the "most" truthful.

It sure doesn't help that the media talks about a lot more negative things than positive either. No matter what the topic is.

The world is going to hell. The question is when.

Africa IS civil war. I would not be suprised to see the US explode in a Left vs. Right situation.

Its sad, but i have to agree. There is a guy from another fourm who says we will go the way that Rome did. I used to think he was just a bit nuts, now i'm not so sure he is.

The world is the same as always. Rhetoric is just easier to come by and civility isn't cool anymore.

No - I mean rhetoric. Information is almost worthless without context. Rhetoric can stand on its own.

Re: is the whole world going to hell in a handbasket?

ok... so information in the wrong hands sort of thing or??? i'm a little confused.

for example, because its been debated, the helicopter firing on the crowd, we can all see the video so we know it happened, i would count that as information, then how we take that information is up to us. Whats the rhetoric in situations like this? (i'm not picking an argument just questioning)

we have a lot more information availible these days and are able to get it from lots of sources, surely thats a good thing. perhaps you're right though, the world is just as bad as it always was just now we're seeing it for what it is?

There are still solid changes to living conditions though, laws, taxes, etc. that are not based on transparency (information availability) that affect peoples every day lives, the labour market, ever increasing taxes, which will soon raise even more as the baby boomers need care. and then we are going to have all the sudden retirement but not enough skilled experienced people to take their place. The bourdon on younger people to pay these taxes will result in a lower birth rate as people dont see families as an economic possibility, except for those who are in the lowest socioeconomic demographic who continue to breed seemingly without thought or preconception. Leeding to ongoing generations of unemployed and becoming unemployable people. Crime rates go up, actually it reminds me a little of the british empire during industrialisation, prison hulks overcrowded in the themes, unfortunately i dont know where they they can send all these prisoners, many of whom will be seen favourably over time, through the whole "stole loaf of bread for my family" concept. Culturally, while multiculturalism is a great thing, too many places are having their culture forcably ripped from them, sometimes out from under them with stupid pieces of legislation like companies being able to patent long existing products, foreign ownership, privatisation, leading to lower quality services like electricity supply. Not to mention the environment.
