Easy way to explain is that when the engine gets any KR the PCM then retards the timming and to make any good HP, you dont want it to pull timming.

Re: kr

the knock sensor is used to detect engine vibration(ie. spark knock or could even be from a worn engine mount) and sends the info to ecm. the ecm will retard the timing to solve the problem. with the engine running you can check it out by tapping the block with a hammer, next to knock sensor, and you should notice the engine kind of shudder for a second.
P.S. nice e.t time. looks like your getting your reaction time down or did you find a better way to launch.

Re: kr

i was getting consistant 2.13-2.17 60' on bald crappy delta tires. I was getting thoes launchs down good!!! I think im getting thoes new fusion zir tires, they look like a good tire for a very good price. My last few runs a guy i went down there w/ let me use this drags, and thoes kicked ass, almost no wheel spin at all!

you would have to set up an aftermarket meter that can read kr. but in your case, even if you could read it, there's not much you could do to change it(reduce kr). you would could use it if you had a way to adjust the timing yourself, but this is done by the ecm. you would have more use for it if you had a stand alone ecm, which you could adjust spark timing or if you had a turbo and had adjustable boost, then you could read the meter to see how much boost you could safely run with.

here's a site where they used one on a RX7, but it's the same theory though.

Rocker arms and headers can help reduce KR,even colder plugs can reduce it a little.
