Unhappy Factory Paint problems

I need some advice about the factory paint on my 2 month old 350Z Roadster.
I am having quite a few pits and what looks like tiny opalescent (?) spots all over my car. I have had it in to the paint guy that my dealer wanted me to take it to and he thinks that something was in the paint from the factory and that the whole car needs re-painted.

Should I ask for a new car, or would I be better off with a new paint job? I have heard a few negitive things about the factory paint on the Z's and am wondering if any of you know anything that could be helpful in making my decision.

Re: Factory Paint problems

I believe there is a problem with the RED ones, I have not heard anythinga about any other color. I say take it back. Im pretty sure they'll re-paint it for you for free. They won't give you a new one though.

I don't know what colors have the problem, but mine is just 'bout 2 weeks old and I took it back to the dealer and it's going to be repainted by the painter of my choice, at their expense. I just have 500 miles on it and most of it was driving it back and forth to the dealer's.

Re: Factory Paint problems

Being an automotive service manager I will advise you to get your paint complaint on record with a written repair/service order completed. Be sure to request in writing what the warranty will be with the repaint of your auto. Warranted by the manifacturier, dealer or the painting facility. This way if your paint fades or comes off for any reason you have an avenue of repair.

Re: Factory Paint problems

very interesting but alas I have had the same problem. Red is my color too. The second day after i bought the car, a friend of mine showed me fish eyes (pits) on the bumper. The dealer repainted the passenger door but there was a noticeable defect. Now that I hear that there is a real problem with the red color, how can we maintain the condition?
