Door Speaker Install On a 2000 K3500

Hello To Anyone that can help...

I have a 2000 Chevy K3500 (manual windows, locks, etc...) and the problem I am having is the door speakers... they sound like shit, and I bought some speakers to replace them... I'm pretty sure of the size, but i have NO CLUE how to take the door apart without breaking it, or what's holding the door panel to the door... any help would be greatly apprecieated....

Re: Door Speaker Install On a 2000 K3500

Well, if it's anything like the Silverado's there are 3 screws. One Behind the Arm that you pull to close the door, one on the bottom in the center and one underneath the power door/locks and windows.
Pry off the cover behind the mirror, it should just "pop" off.
Pry off the electrics on the handle, disconnect the electric window and door lock control.
Take the plastic surround piece off around the inside door handle and once all the screws are undone it should just slide up.
Now be careful as the door light and speaker wiring will be connected. Slide your arm down and pop the two connectors off.
Done
I can get my door panel off in about 7 minutes so it's really pretty easy. I've taken both on and off on mine and they go back on nice and sturdy.
Hope this helps.

Evan

Re: Door Speaker Install On a 2000 K3500

I just replaced my door handle and there are rivets that hold the bottom of the door down. Then you have to take the window handle off. Best tool to do this is a paint can opener to get the lock bolt of the back. It looks like a horseshoe. Then lift the panel straight up off of where the window rolls down into the door. Now there are going to be about 10 screws holding the next peice down. You may not have to take them out to get the pld speaker out, but you may have to to get the new wires attached. Door panel goes back on same way it came off. My wife had to stick the horseshoe clip back on the window handle though because her fingers are smaller. Youll see what im talking about when you get it off. Also the armrest on the door DOES NOT PULL OFF!!! It stays on the door panel. Even if there are screws on it. Any other questions im me and i will be glad to help.
