change oil lite

Does anyone know how to cancel the "change oil" light on the dash? i do not have an owners manual and the haynes manual does not say how to. Thanks, Kent. it's a '99 alero.

Re: change oil lite

Remove the fuse panel cover on the left hand side and you should see a red 'RESET' button. Turn the key to 'ON' but do not start the engine. Then hold the light for 5 seconds, release it and press it again. The light should flash. Hold it until you hear three beeps. This is the same process tol reset the 'LOW TIRE PRESSURE' light. When the 'CHANGE OIL' light flashes, press the reset button and release immediately and you should see the LTP light flash, and hold the reset button til you hear 3 beeps.

Re: change oil lite

I love my low tire pressure light, but I never go by the change oil light. I use Mobil 1 Synthetic 5W-30 and change every 4-5K miles.
