Light disabling

Dunno if I want to or not, but is there any way to disable my auto-on headlights, or to make it so I can turn them off without turning the car off?

Good luck with that.. I always thought those DRL were a pain sometimes.. Like when your driving through your highschools football field at night?

Re: Light disabling

are they the actual headlights or just the parking lights (i dont remember which it is on the camaro)? i like running with the parking lights on, i think it makes the car look awsome goin down the road, especially when its late in the day and getting darker...

Re: Light disabling

when I had a blazer, they had the auto-on headlites, and to disable them I took a 1.5ohm resistor and in the right front speaker grill on the dash was a light sensor, I took the grill off to get to the sensor harness, unplugged it, and put the resistor in the harness end, taped it up and put it all back. I'm pretty sure you have a sensor on the dash somewhere and this same method should work.

Re: Light disabling

I like my auto headlights on my suv except for when going under highway overpasses they usually pop on.

On my old 5 spd car the lights went off when I pulled up the e brake handle a bit. The brakes wouldnt come on yet but the lights would go out.

Re: Light disabling

my rora has them too, but disabling them seems almost impossible, there's 3 sensors on the dash and they don't look very easy to get to.

Re: Light disabling

Well, my father's reason, for his 99 S10, was "Do they think I'm too stupid to turn my headlights on myself or something" along with being if full control of the vehicle he paid for, not liking to turn them on until out of the driveway, turning them off when pulling in the driveway so they don't shine in the windows, etc...and me, I think they come on too early, mine will come on when the sun is still shining bright as hell.

Re: Light disabling

well the way i see it, is that im lazy, so if the car wants to turn them on for me, shit, ill let it, and as far as them coming on too early, um, do they really make it too bright for ya? what negative impact do they have? not arguing the point with anyone, but i just dont see the point of doing work when i dont have to, i just dont see what you stand to gain by doing it is all.

Re: Light disabling

ok, point taken, but why is there a switch to turn em on and off if you don't need it, and at night it won't turn em off anyway. Also I just don't like my headlights on in broad daylight. It's more a personal preference thing if anything, there should be an override switch for it like the dome override button that's in late model GM trucks and vans.

Exactly. I'm just saying sometimes if I'm waiting for someone and have the heat or a/c on, but dont want my lights shining into their house. Or my house coming home late. Or when im trying to sneak around
