87 4x4 manual transmission how can i tell what model
i can see the id tag on the side of the tranny but how do i know what type of tranny it is. its a 1987 5spd 4x4 i want to know what type of fluid to replace it with dexron II or 75-90gear oil. i checked the chiltons manual but no help.
also is dexron II used in the transfer case but what tool do you need to take out the drain plug and filler plug there hexagonal but there huge bolts i dont have anything that will fit |

It's probably a Peugeot trans.If it has a case that splits right in half it would be a Peugeot.Not exactly the best trans and if you ever need parts for it good luck.As far as the fluid goes I think it was gear oil but I dont have a manual available.The t-case plugs should be 1-3/16
