Civic Back dash rattling. Ideas?

I have a 00 civic si and a 98 Dx, i made a rear dashboard out of plywood and vinyl for the DX (its actually not that bad), but i wanted to do something alot more classier for the si, and i was wondering how anybody else has kept the back dash from rattling when you added subs?

back dash == tonnau cover for a hatch? or the rear deck on a 2dr/4dr?

the best thing to do to keep things from rattling (Besides turning the volume down) is to dynamat the big parts, and make sure everything is secured well... also make sure the area you have the subs in is sized for the subs you have so they aren't enclosed in too small a space. venting the trunk into the cabin can also alleviate some vibration problems caused by quick pressure changes.

there are bushings you can buy to put on screws that actually dampen vibrations, also... all sorts of things you can do.

hmm... you could listen to some Yanni... an hour of that shit and you'll be ready to turn the stereo off permanently :P

i was talking about a coupe/sedan, not the hatchback, but anyways...i know about dynamat, and how to make my trunk stop rattling and everything like that. the only thing i wasnt really sure how other people fixed was the back dash right behind the seats from rattling. thanks for the reply though.

I think you should port your trunk. I have a 00 civic as well and I plan to port mine once I start running more power. It would alleviate your rattling noise of the rear deck lid, and also give you some added bass up front. It is much like folding on of your rear seats down, you could do that for a cheaper way. I do that all the time for better bass in the cabin.

I have some serious bass in my car, and nothing rattles, not on the outside or the inside. All I had to do was make sure things are tight, and replace any worn out plastic fastener things that most interior panels have a bunch of. I drive a 94 civic cx, there's nothing in there as far as factory sound insulation (ok, there IS a stock firewall mat). Another sound you might hear is the noise from two panels rubbing against eachother.
