Timing belt longivity?

What is the longest anyone has run a timing belt. Recently purchased a 96 with 113K. I see one guy went 120K on his. I am thinking of trying to beat that. Anyone else?

I changed mine at 124601 but I do not recommend you try to beat or even come closer than 100k. I bought it used and assumed it had been chnged. I was making a long trip 5000miles and decided to change it. I found out it was the OEM and the waterpump was SHOT.

Thanks for input. Mine just rolled over 114,000.
Have all the stuff, just have to get motivated.
You didn't sat what shape your belt was in.

It was in bad shape. It had started to stretch and it was cracking which was caused by the water pump leaking on to the belt. My EXCELLENT MECHANIC told me I could have driven another 10k or 0.5k and broke down and blown the engine. Change it NOW. You will hate to have all the parts in the trunk and not be able use them cause the engine is blown.

its recommended to be changed at 105 k so your overdue. dont delay because it could cause worse problems if it goes on you. changed mine at 102 and it wasnt in great shape.

It seems to be the concensus to change it . It is sitting in garage, as Ohio winters suck.(salt)
So I have a couple of months to get the job done. Still trying to contact the guy I bought it from. Want to make sure I am not looking at a new belt when I get in there. Thanks for the input.

I chnaged mine on my 95 at about 114k. Its got 128k now.

My belt was in good shape, almost questioned why I went through the whole hassle bu since I took everthing apart I did it anyway..

BTW whenever you change the timimg belt automatically chenge the water pump, and get a new one not a rebuilt one. Since you take half the engine apart doing it you mite as well just change the water pump since its right there. Get the High temp gasket maker for water pumps (Murryas auto has it, Instaed of using the Blue RTV) You know how Murphy works!

Bulldozer, I replaced mine at 110,000. I had put it off for awhile also, thinking it would be a hassle, but it ended up taking me a little over 2 hrs, and that was with replacing the water pump also....FYI, I replaced the pump (it wasn't very much $) just 'cuz I was in there, and all new belts, of course. Oh, and I used a timing belt from a dealer. Maybe I'm just a little nervous about aftermarket parts for something as critical as this belt. And now I've got 230k on the motor and it's time again!! (ps. no water pump problems so far!!! :<) Good Luck! J

Thanks for the info. I'm planning on replacing everthing remotely connected to timing belt.
You must really drive yours. Glad to hear it has lasted this long.
