Re: CRANK or PULLEY problem

Maybe a wet/slipping/loose fan belt or it could be a bad bearing on an accessory. Need more info on what it sounds like, does it change with engine speed and what pulley. Does it go away after the engine warms up? Help us to help you with more info.

Re: CRANK or PULLEY problem

2002....accessory belts (power steering, alternator, and a/c) been changed. if not...check condition of the belts...if you see in cracks on the teeth/rib of the belts...then its time to replace. if it has been changed recently...then take it back to the place that changed it and have them recheck the tension of the belts.

Re: CRANK or PULLEY problem

The belt is not seated correctly in the pulley....remove the belts and replace them with new ones and make sure they are seated correctly. The reason you want to replace them is you have slightly stretched them and have compromised the integrity of the belts....also when you tighten them again, make sure not to over tighten them....get a chilton's book and they have a diagram on how much tension should be on them...Good luck

Exclamation reply to post

hi again, when car is idle the pulley makes a ticking noice, and it moves a lil up and down but when i press gas a lil the noice disapprears and pulley doesnt shake nomore. I am guesing the pulley itself went bad, or might be offset or bended because whenever I put the belt on I dont think I used the right way to install it. Is it possible just to change the pulley or try to replace the belt first? Thanks, any info will be helpful

Re: CRANK or PULLEY problem

Lena, I think it's time for you to take it to the shop. I'm nervous about your guesses at the problem. It needs the help of a professional (or at least an experienced amateur) who can actually LOOK and LISTEN to the problem.

Re: CRANK or PULLEY problem

I agree with AccordCodger...take it into a shop and have them correct it...soemthing is really wacked adn it is bettter to get ti fixed now and not wait until something snaps b/c when it does it COULD do more damage....
