Lightbulb ECU swapping......Hmmmmmmmm

There's a dx ecu on ebay for sell and I might get it. Since I have the base model hatch which has the PM9 ecu in it, this dx ecu is a PM5. Now I they can be switched since both are DPFI but here's the question.

Will the engine have more power, will it make a difference? I've read they've had different fuel maps but will I have a better range of power? Will it all together be worth it?

I say dont even bother. Save the money you would spend making your dpfi system better, for mpfi parts.

Actually, I really don't want to get into the MPFI swap. But if I plan to keep my car during college, then I might consider. But for now, I just want to know if the PM5 would make a difference over the PM9 once installed? Anybody every tried it?

Hmm the pm9 isnt that from a STD? I dont really think (if it actually did) that you would know or feel a difference. But if you need a pm5 i gotcha one for 30 bucks SHIPPED!!

SHUT THE FUCK UP. You're going to be a frankenstein if I ever find out where you live, I'll jam a motor mount bolt into each side of your head and hook you up to my car battery. Seriously though; mods He's done nothing but spread bullshit thru all of AF and has never added any information or asked a serious question ever, please ban this jackass.

Re: ECU swapping......Hmmmmmmmm

The PM9 is an STD 70hp
The PM5 is an DX 92hp.

Now, I know that both engines are the same except for the tranny, ecu and throttle opening. But what really makes that extra 22 hp? If I swap, will i have the 92 hp?

Re: Re: ECU swapping......Hmmmmmmmm

my DX came stock with a pm5,
I bought a 90 civic std w/a pm9 in it,
my pm5 tachs out at 5000 rpm,
when I put in the pm9,it tachs out at 6200,
ran a sec faster with the pm9,tachin out higher
theres really no speed difference, horsepower difference,
the only thing you could get out of a ecu,its either, higher revs,or lower revs,
although with this pm9,my car runs shitty, actually,it makes my idle,go up & down, very little & makes my belt sqeak because how low the idle will get sometimes,
I put it in for the races,
its not worth it,if your wanting a computer with 22 hp???
go to hondata, not forshore if it will give you 22hp,but you'll be abel to rev up to 11'000 Rpm,(thats if your wanting too)!
what I'm wanting to try is the pm6,see what it'll do,
