Question question about 96 Corsica

I just bought a 96 4 cyl Corsica, it is in immaculate shape, no scratches, dents and the interior looks brand new... everything runs good and he just replaced the AC compressor. I got it for a deal $1500!!

My question is:

I drive about 800-1000 miles a week... after I bought the car I did some reading and people are saying that this car only gets about 100,000 miles before it dies. This one has a little under 90,000 which means I will only get a couple months out of it if that is true.

Is this really true or are people just blowing smoke up my *ss?

As long as you keep up preventative maintanence it should get you alomst 200k miles. I assume that you drive mostly on the highway, highway miles are better for the car than city miles. They put the least stress on the transmission, brakes, and the engine itself.

is it VERY important to keep the oil changed in those motors. the oil passage that feeds the timing chain is small. neglecting frequent oil changes causes the this passage to clog, and thus oil starves the timing chain, causing the timing chain to break, and destroying the engine.
